The Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival is on Sunday August 21st from 10AM to 5PM at Alderney Landing in downtown Dartmouth! Easy to get to via the ferry! Lots of comics, cartoonists, crafts and more! Jenn Woodall is an award-winning cartoonist and illustrator who lives in Toronto, Ontario. She grew up in Brampton, where she read comics and manga and scrounged Chinatown for bootleg anime VHS tapes as well as colorful clothes. She moved to Toronto for university, where she studied fashion design, followed by illustration at OCAD University. She self-publishes her own comics and zines and also has her work distributed and published by Silver Sprocket. Her first OGN, ‘Space Trash’, is being released in September by Oni Press.

I make affordable crocheted goods, mostly stuffies and hats, and mostly from my own patterns. My stuffies are all done in a ‘chubby and cute’ or ‘chibi’ similar style. I have a large selection of superheroes and villains (Superman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America, Link, Sailor Moon, and many more); pokemon, pokeballs, light sabers, Death Stars and Baby Yodas, house hippos and dinosaurs; Cthulhu, Baby Groot, creations from Doctor Who such as Adipose and Daleks, and even a demogorgon from Stranger Things, plus more. For hats for all ages I make them in the style of Yoda, Pikachu, Pokeballs, TMNT, BB8, Totoro, and more. I also make a variety of small ornaments that are good for a keychain, backpack, or even a Christmas tree – small Koopa shells, mini pokeballs and Death Stars, Cyberman and Yoda heads, facehuggers, metal slimes, and more.

Strange Adventures will be in attendance at the 3rd annual East Coast Comic Expo held in Moncton, New Brunswick! If you’ll be there and have any requests for items that we should bring along, shoot us an e-mail (shop@strangeadventures.com)!
We’ll have copies of the spiffy Amazing Spider-man #1 variant cover that was illustrated by ECCE guest artist, Nick Bradshaw! Lots of vintage comics as well as variant covers and some of our exclusive comics to peruse, too!

Located on the Dartmouth waterfront at Alderney Landing and running from 11am to 5pm, DCAF is part comic celebration, part craft fair and all awesome. We’ll have more than two dozen comic book creators that include such superstars like Faith Erin Hicks (FRIENDS WITH BOYS, ADVENTURE TIME, WAR AT ELLESMERE, ZOMBIES CALLING), Nick Bradshaw (WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN, ASTONISHING X-MEN, ARMY OF DARKNESS), Mike Holmes (ADVENTURE TIME, TRUE STORY), Steve McNiven (MARVEL: CIVIL WAR, NEMESIS, WOLVERINE: OLD MAN LOGAN), and Darwyn Cooke (PARKER, DC: NEW FRONTIER, BEFORE WATCHMEN: MINUTEMEN & SILK SPECTRE). There will be heaps of locally-made comic books, prints, t-shirts and oh, so much more. Best of all, it’s easily accessible by bus or ferry, there is plenty of free parking and admission is 100% completely, totally free to all.
