BOOK LAUNCH PARTY DEC. 20TH

Posted on December 13th, 2009

the countdown is on for xmas. Loads of people coming in with their shopping lists. Speaking of lists, have you filled out one of our Xmas Registry cards? It’s helpful for the folks who might be looking to get you something special from Strange Adventures that’s a little more fun to open than a gift certificate, though there’s nothing wrong with gift certificates! They are a great alternative for when you’re not sure what to get someone.

Gift certificates are available in two sizes; one or two million dollars.

Old joke, I know, but someday, it’s going to happen. A pal of mine, Cousin Steve, runs a shop in the states called The Outer Limits and he offers a thousand dollar gift certificate for only $799.99. I don’t know if anyone’s interested, but I’d offer the same deal!

Our gift certificates don’t expire, you don’t need to spend it all at once and they are good at either Strange Adventures location!

We’re hosting another book launch in Halifax this Sunday, Dec. 20th. More info can be found at the facebook event page but I’ll try to summarize it here for those of you strong enough not to have succumbed to facebook:

Mark Oakley, of Thieves & Kings fame, just wrapped up a webcomic called Star Drop and the collected edition will be available this Sunday, Dec. 20th from 1pm to 3pm. Come down to Strange Adventures and meet Mark, check out the book and maybe buy a copy! He’ll even sign it for you! Mark’s a pretty swell guy. And for the lucky first batch of people who attend, we’ll also be giving away a limited edition signed print of the poster Mark made for Strange Adventures. You can see it on the left over there somewhere. While supplies last!

In other news, I’m working on getting a webcomics section added to the Strange Adventures website. I’d like to promote maritime webcomics, so if you do one or know of one, please send me the info.

and finally in news, Mister J, the amazing magician you may have seen at the Word On The Street festival, sent along some links to his video outings as seen on eastlink’s “woot!” tv show. Here’s Mister J:

“Hey, Cal
You may or may not have seen these already, they’re from the EastLink show w00t! that has been airing daily throughout the Maritimes. (Yes, they’re offtimes very corny, but hopefully fun too…trying to spread the comic book love! Due to time constraints, all episodes filmed in one day in one take each!):

“Mr. J presents: The Secret Origin of Spider-Man!” (starring the legendary Strange Adventures copy of Amazing Fantasy #15!!)

“Mr. J presents: More Spider-Man Secrets!”

“Mr. J presents: Pop Culture MAKEOVERS!”

“Mr. J presents: A Tribute to Charles Schulz, Charlie Brown and Snoopy”

“Mr. J presents: World’s Weirdest Comic Books! (Part 1)

“Mr. J presents World’s Weirdest Comics! (Part 2)

**********

Thanks for those links, Mister J! Keep spreading the good comic book word!

That’s all I have for this week. See you folks later!
