Saturday, May 12th, is a busy day at Strange Adventures in Halifax!

From noon to 2PM, cartoonist Mike Holmes will be signing copies of his new book, Mikenesses, as well as the Adventure Time comic from Free Comic Book Day which he illustrated! More info on the Facebook event here: Meet cartoonist Mike Holmes at Strange Adventures!
From 2 to 4PM another comic book creator arrives in the shape of Jim Zub! Jim has worked with UDON Studios for many years, has written Street Fighter comics, the Makeshift Miracle graphic novel (new hardcover will debut this Saturday!) and is currently writing the hit Image comic book series, SKULLKICKERS! Jim and artist Edwin Huang make SKULLKICKERS the comic book equivalent of a particularly drunken Dungeons & Dragons session. A fast-paced, freewheeling mash-up of action, fantasy, comedy, and Spaghetti Western, this series follows the misadventures of a pair of freelance tough guys–a bald giant and a red-bearded dwarf–as they hack, slash, punch, and kick their way through a medieval fantasy world. It helps if, as the giant does, you wield what appears to be this world’s only firearm, a solid-gold cannon of a six-shooter. After witnessing a political assassination and vowing to track down the killer, the death-dealing duo becomes embroiled in a massive conspiracy involving necromancers, zombies, an elvish assassin, and the most murderous fairies ever depicted on the comic page. There’s also a talking squirrel named Nutski, a subplot involving the dwarf’s leg becoming demon-possessed and repeatedly kicking him in the ass (shades of EVIL DEAD II), and a giant plant monster that threatens to devour an entire town and everyone in it. In addition to the single issues (14 so far), SKULLKICKERS is also available in two paperback collections, “1000 Opas and a Dead Body” and “Five Funerals and a Bucket Of Blood”. And for the deluxe edition connoisseur, there’s the “Treasure Trove Edition”, an oversized hardback containing the first 11 issues plus a variety of extras including bonus short stories, fantasy RPG stats for the two leads, character designs, and a recipe for “Skullkicker Stew”! If you miss this one, you’ll kick yourself.
