little booklets!
11-11:45AM Horror x Romance, Love & Dread
Glen Carabin, Charlit Floriano, Lil M, and Jacob Moore discuss the fascinating connections and contradictions between Horror and Romance, as well as their favourite aspects of the genres.
12-12:45PM Intro to Risograph workshop
Be OK Riso will discuss the power of riso printing for indie comic artists and self publishers with recent examples and workshop the ways to prepare files up for printing, the range in colours and tones, and how to layer for best results.
1:15PM Research & Comics
with Jennifer Brady, Dr. Tim Fedak, Dr. Phillip Joy, Lynette Richards and Colleen MacIsaac. A conversation about the many ways comics can be used to explore and disseminate research. From history and science, to social issues and the humanities, comics can make complex ideas more accessible, foster new forms of inquiry, and reach audiences beyond the classroom.
2:15 pm Drawing from Life
with Michael de Adder, Susan MacLeod, and Zeta Paul. Using the medium of graphic storytelling to document, challenge and connect with the world around us, these artists will discuss how real life inspires unforgettable comics.
3:15pm Ontario & Back
a dramatic reading by author Patrick Allaby from his book about health insurance, moving cross-country and personal obsessions
